Lecture - "Maghrebi Jewish Return"

Wednesday, April 15th | 4:10 PM | 207 Knox Hall

This lecture will present multiple cases taken from Everett’s new book The Jewish Maghreb, published April 1, 2026, examining journeys of return among Algerian Jewish populations and their descendants and exploring how these physical and metaphorical voyages illuminate complex relationships with homeland, memory, and identification.

Dr. Samuel Sami Everett is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton. He is a cultural anthropologist specializing in the historical-colonial and spatial-political dimensions of North African Jewish identification.
