Al Qaeda's Appeal

Author: Brian Murphy

"This paper will examine the reasons why a global organization like Al Qaeda enjoys some degree of support in the Muslim world. I will examine what is attractive in Al Qaeda's message, who finds the message appealing, and where the ideological underpinnings can be found. I will demonstrate that Al Qaeda's appeal is not so much based on any violation of Islamic law by apostates or non-Muslims, as it is on how Al Qaeda addresses inequitable economic, social, and political conditions in Muslim communities."
