Joseph Massad

Joseph Massad is Professor of Modern Arab Politics and Intellectual History at Columbia University. He is the author most recently of Islam in Liberalism (University of Chicago Press, 2015).  His talk will investigate the concept of occidentalism which was used by Edward Said and by his critics since the publication of Said's Orientalism, and the different meanings attributed to it since. 

The talk will begin at 7:00 pm.
